Evelyn Johnson is an artist who captures her impressions of Hawaii using painterly brushstrokes with touches of palette knife. She paints not what is, but what visually and emotionally inspires her —combining realism with some abstraction. Born in San Francisco, she retired to Ecuador for a decade, then recently relocated to Hawaii, where she fell in love with the breathtaking seascapes and landscapes of the islands. She is an avid world traveler and intrigued with discovering new approaches to painting as well as the challenges of painting en plein air.
